In the first 10 days of this month, Bangladesh received 110 crore 90 lakh or 1.10 billion US dollars in remittances. This means an average of 11 crore 9 lakh dollars were sent to the country each day.
This information was provided by Arif Hossain Khan, Executive Director and Spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank, on Tuesday (November 11).
He mentioned that during the first 10 days of November, remittances amounting to 110 crore 90 lakh dollars were received, compared to 82 crore dollars during the same period last year. This indicates a year-on-year increase in remittance flows.
Additionally, on November 10, expatriates sent 13 crore 50 lakh dollars in remittances in just one day. He also shared that from July to November 10 of the current fiscal year, Bangladesh received a total of 1,125 crore 80 lakh dollars in remittances, marking a 15.40% increase compared to the previous year.
In previous months, Bangladesh received 25,634 crore 80 lakh dollars in October, and 26,858 crore 80 lakh dollars in September. In August and July, the remittances were 24,218 crore 90 lakh dollars and 24,780 crore dollars, respectively.
Furthermore, for the fiscal year 2024-25, expatriates sent a record 30.32 billion dollars or 3,032 crore 80 lakh dollars in remittances, which is the highest ever recorded in a single fiscal year for remittance income in Bangladesh’s history.
