If you have been scrolling through Instagram or TikTok lately, you have probably seen everyone sharing Reels or dancing to the track ’10 e 10′. It is everywhere! But are you aware of how it went so viral? Shehab Shahariar, also known as Shibu—the upstart musician behind the song—shared the story of how it all happened. He recounted that he was on a bus, heading home from university, when Hania Aamir posted his song. By the time he arrived home, he had received 50 Instagram requests, something that had never happened to him before. Shibu explained that he released this song in April, but it did not make much of a splash at that time. Then, on 10 October, people started making Reels that day and calling it ’10 e 10′ Day, which sparked the trend.
Talking about the inspiration behind the track, he shared that at the beginning of this year, he weighed 114 kgs and was really struggling with his weight. He felt insecure, and a lot of people disrespected him. One day he woke up and realised he needed to completely change his life. That is when he wrote ’10 e 10′. It was his way of encouraging the audience to never think badly about themselves. He wanted to convey that no matter what, you are always ’10 e 10′. He admitted he just had to change himself first because he was not comfortable with that version of himself. Since then, he has lost almost 30 kgs.
Shibu now enjoys a massive following on Spotify, with almost 90 thousand followers. Interestingly, a lot of people listen from outside Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, he has about 36 per cent of his listeners. He actually possesses a bigger global fanbase compared to his Bangladeshi listeners. People from the US, Canada, many Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs), and recently listeners from Pakistan, India, and Nepal are also loving his music. His latest song, ‘Tauba’, has also been trending. He revealed that he made the beat for ‘Tauba’ back in 2024. He sampled parts from Arfin Rumey’s ‘Sohena Jatona’—specifically the harmonium, guitar, and mandolin portions—and the beat turned out pretty nice.
Information regarding Shibu’s listener demographics and stats is provided below:
| Subject | Details/Statistics |
|---|---|
| Spotify Followers | Almost 90,000 |
| Bangladeshi Listeners | 36 per cent |
| International Listeners | US, Canada, Pakistan, India, Nepal, and NRBs |
| Notable Songs | 10 e 10, Tauba, Opekkha |
Shibu often uses sampling to add extra energy to his tracks, though he acknowledges potential legal issues. regarding sampling, he stated he did not think too seriously about the problems initially. He feels ‘Tauba’ falls under fair use because he approached it in his own creative way and did not copy the entire thing. However, he is slightly worried about ’10 e 10′ because the sample is very close to the original music, reflecting what he was feeling at the time. Nevertheless, he added that in the future, if any legal issues arise, he will do his best to resolve them. Up next, Shibu will perform at Arka Fashion Week alongside Muza on 7 December at 8:15 pm. The singer, who first made his mark with pop, is now shifting his focus toward folk fusion and hopes to introduce the style to a wider audience. The first track from his upcoming album, ‘Opekkha’, has already been released, and more songs are on the way, with one set to drop later this month.
