The Gaza Civil Defence agency announced on Saturday that 11 Palestinians were killed during Israeli military operations across the embattled territory, now suffering through more than 21 months of continuous war.
Breakdown of Fatalities
Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmud Bassal told AFP that the casualties occurred in several separate incidents:
| Location | Cause of Death | Number of Fatalities |
| Al-Rimal, Gaza City (North) | Israeli airstrike | 4 |
| Zikim Area (Northwest of Sudaniyah) | Gunfire while awaiting aid | 1 |
| Near Khan Yunis (South) | Drone strike | 1 |
| Al-Bureij Refugee Camp (Central) | Artillery shelling | 1 |
| Morag Corridor (North of Rafah) | Bodies recovered post-bombardment | 12 (previous night’s toll) |
“People were just waiting for humanitarian aid when the military opened fire,”
said Abu Samir Hamoudeh, 42, who witnessed the shooting near the Zikim area.
The Zikim incident reportedly took place close to an Israeli military post, where thousands had gathered in hopes of receiving food and aid.
Ongoing Israeli Military Operations
In a separate statement, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed that operations in Gaza were continuing, including:
The Israeli military said it is investigating the reported incidents involving civilian casualties.
Humanitarian Challenges and Coordination
According to Bassal, civil defence teams recovered the bodies of 12 people in the Morag Corridor north of Rafah. This recovery was conducted in coordination with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
The bodies were transported to Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, a key medical facility in the southern Gaza Strip.
Due to media restrictions and limited access to conflict zones, AFP has been unable to independently verify the death tolls or exact circumstances.
Cumulative Toll of the War
The ongoing Israeli military campaign, launched in response to the 7 October 2023 Hamas attack, continues to inflict devastating casualties.
Human Impact Overview
| Group/Region | Deaths | Notes |
| Palestinians (Gaza) | 59,676+ | Majority are civilians; figure from Gaza Health Ministry |
| Israelis (Oct. 2023) | 1,219 | Mostly civilians; killed in Hamas’s 7 October attack |
The conflict’s latest phase underscores deepening humanitarian concerns, as Gaza’s infrastructure crumbles under the weight of sustained bombardment and aid access remains precarious.
The international community continues to call for restraint and greater humanitarian access, but the intensity of hostilities shows no signs of abating
