114 Civilians Killed in Lebanon by Israeli Attacks Despite Ceasefire

The UN human rights office has reported that Israel’s continued attacks in Lebanon, violating the November 2024 ceasefire agreement, have so far claimed the lives of 114 civilians.

The office’s spokesperson, Thamin al-Khitan, told Anadolu that Israeli airstrikes on buildings in various villages of southern Lebanon are under their monitoring, and civilian casualties have been steadily increasing since the ceasefire came into effect.

He said that the deadly impact on civilians must stop immediately. He also noted that residents of the border areas have been living in fear and instability for more than two years.

Thamin al-Khitan called for strict adherence to the ceasefire agreement and international human rights law.

Israeli forces have been carrying out attacks in Lebanon since October 2023, which escalated into a full-scale assault in September 2024. These attacks have killed more than four thousand people and injured nearly seventeen thousand so far.
