Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has confirmed that 1,350 police firearms that went missing are yet to be recovered. It is suspected that these weapons have ended up in the hands of individuals in the hill regions and members of the Arsa group, among others. Efforts to recover the firearms are ongoing.
The IGP disclosed this information on Tuesday morning, 30 September, during a briefing on security and law enforcement measures for Durga Puja.
He stated that in order to ensure a free, fair, and uninterrupted 13th National Parliamentary Election, the police would act with utmost diligence, and preparations for election duty are already underway.
