In a major crackdown on criminal activities in Narayanganj, the Siddhirganj Police Station successfully apprehended 18 individuals involved in drug trafficking and consumption, alongside four women accused of street theft. The arrests were confirmed on Sunday (2 February) afternoon by Siddhirganj Police Inspector (OC) Abdul Bariq through an official press release.
The operation took place overnight, beginning at 7:30 pm on Saturday (1 February) and continuing until 6:30 am the following morning. Police teams conducted coordinated raids across several high-crime areas, including Bihari Camp, Azibpur Sona Mia Field, Burma Stand, and West Sanarpur.
According to the police, the arrested drug offenders range in age from 20 to 56. Many of the suspects have prior records for drug-related offences. The list of individuals apprehended is as follows:

During the raids, law enforcement seized significant quantities of illegal substances, which are detailed below:

In addition to the drug bust, four women associated with a street theft gang in the Burma Stand area were also detained. The women — Shilpi Akter (37), Nasrin Akter (28), Nasima Begum (30), and Morsheda Begum (28) — were found in possession of a gold chain weighing 10 ana.
Inspector Abdul Bariq confirmed that cases have been filed against all 22 individuals under relevant drug control and theft laws. “Several of the arrested individuals have prior records for drug offences and theft. Our operation was aimed at both curbing illegal drug distribution and enhancing public safety in high-risk areas,” he said.
All arrested suspects were presented before the Narayanganj court on Sunday. Authorities emphasised that these coordinated operations are part of a broader campaign to combat organised crime and street theft, and to restore a sense of security among local residents.
The Siddhirganj Police have stated that ongoing intelligence-led operations will continue to target hotspots for drug trafficking and street crimes, aiming to dismantle criminal networks that have long plagued the area.
