Police have recovered 32 petrol bombs from a luggage abandoned by the roadside in the Bhanga area of Faridpur. Authorities suspect that the bombs were placed there with the intent of causing sabotage in connection with the ongoing lockdown announced by the Awami League. However, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, according to police.
The explosives were discovered on Thursday (November 13) around 1:00 PM along the Dhaka-Khulna Highway in the Munsoorabadh area of Hamirdi Union, Bhanga.
According to police sources, they acted on a tip-off about potential sabotage in the Munsoorabadh area. By the time they arrived at the scene, the perpetrators had fled after abandoning the luggage.
Bhanga Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC), Mohammad Ashraf Hossain, confirmed that 32 petrol bombs were found inside the luggage left by the side of the road. He stated that no suspects were found at the scene, but an investigation is underway. Police believe the bombs were planted to create chaos during the ongoing lockdown initiative by the ruling party.
This incident follows a similar discovery the previous day (November 12), when a large number of explosive materials, including petrol bombs and cocktails, were recovered from the home of a Saudi expatriate, Titu Sardar, in Brahmanpara village of Azimnagar Union. Three young men were arrested in connection with that find.
