360,000 Yaba Tablets Seized in Ukhiya, Estimated Value around Tk 11 crore

In Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, a large quantity of yaba tablets has been seized in a special operation conducted by the BGB. The Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB) reported that a total of 360,000 yaba tablets were recovered, with an estimated market value of approximately 108 million taka.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Jasim Uddin, commander of the Ukhiya Battalion, confirmed the matter on Thursday (27 November) morning.

According to the BGB, based on a secret tip-off, a special patrol team from the Palongkhali BOP was deployed in the Fari Bill area at midnight on Thursday. Two individuals were seen entering Bangladesh from the Myanmar side. When challenged by the patrol, they abandoned three black bags and quickly fled back to Myanmar. Upon inspection, 36 blue airtight packages wrapped in khaki tape containing a total of 360,000 yaba tablets were recovered.

Despite conducting a combing operation throughout the night in and around the area, the fleeing traffickers could not be apprehended.

The commander of the Ukhiya Battalion said, “Intelligence surveillance has been intensified to identify the fleeing traffickers. The recovered yaba is being handed over to the Ukhiya police station. The BGB remains strict in border security, drug suppression, and preventing smuggling. Similar operations will continue in the future.”
