In 2026, a total of 76,580 Bangladeshi pilgrims have successfully completed registration to perform Hajj, according to the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Of these, 72,344 pilgrims registered through private arrangements, while 4,260 registered under the government-managed quota. This year, Bangladesh has been allocated 78,500 Hajj slots by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Mohammad Abubakar Siddique, Senior Information Officer at the Ministry, stated, “In addition to regular pilgrims, medical teams, Hajj guides, and administrative and technical personnel will travel to Saudi Arabia to assist the pilgrims. The Ministry has submitted their lists for approval by the Saudi authorities.”
According to the Hajj Office, the breakdown of pilgrims by management type is as follows:
| Management Type | Number of Pilgrims |
|---|---|
| Private | 72,344 |
| Government | 4,565 |
| Total | 76,909 |
The registration period for 2026 Hajj pilgrims began on 27 July 2025 and concluded on 16 October 2025, as per Saudi regulations. The Ministry has emphasised that all Hajj agencies and airlines must strictly follow the operational guidelines set for the pilgrimage.
Flights for 2026 Hajj pilgrims are scheduled to commence from 18 April 2026, with three airlines designated to transport pilgrims: Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Saudia Airlines, and Flynas Airlines. Pre-Hajj flights are required to carry 20 per cent of the pilgrims, while the remaining pilgrims will travel during the first and final phases of the Hajj schedule. Agencies are not permitted to issue fewer than 30 per cent or more than 50 per cent of tickets on the first or final phase flights.
The Saudi government has made medical fitness mandatory for all Hajj pilgrims. A Ministry official added, “Ensuring a smooth pilgrimage depends heavily on health awareness and physical and mental preparedness. Pilgrims must be ready to manage common health issues during the journey.”
Bangladeshi pilgrims have completed registration through various channels, including the e-Hajj system (www.hajj.gov.bd), Labbaik mobile app, Union Digital Centres, regional offices of the Islamic Foundation, and the Baitul Mukarram and Ashkona Hajj offices.
The Ministry has urged all agencies to comply with ticketing and flight guidelines meticulously, ensuring the safe and organised transport of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
