A Joyful Journey Through Rabindra Sangeet

The cultural heart of Dhaka, Bangla Shilpakala, came alive yesterday with an enchanting celebration of music and poetry, titled “Joyful Songs of the Journey”. The event paid homage to the life and multifaceted genius of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, presenting his artistic odyssey as a living, breathing experience through a blend of song, recitation, and performance.

The evening commenced with a soul-stirring rendition by Sanchita Roki, whose emotive voice breathed life into “Bansingha – Gohon Kusum Kunj Modhye”. The performance captured the essence of love, faith, and the sublime grandeur embedded in Tagore’s compositions. Roki further enchanted the audience with “Majhe Majhe Tor Dekha Pai” and “Hridoyer Ekul Okul”, delicately portraying fleeting joys, inner conflicts, and the human heart’s complex emotions. Her closing number, “Aaj Joto Tara Tob Akashe”, radiated hope and light, leaving a lingering impression on the audience.

Fahim Hossain Chowdhury followed, presenting “Kotha Hote Baje” and “Jagate Anondo Jage”. Each song was prefaced by a recitation of relevant poems and insightful commentary, connecting listeners directly to Tagore’s philosophical reflections and his celebration of life’s creative energies.

The evening was further enriched by the contributions of seasoned musicians, including Gautam Kumar Sarker, Robins Chowdhury, Ashok Kumar Sarker, Md. Nasir Uddin, and Ustad Md. Moniruzzaman.
