A mysterious body found in the drain

Rajshahi, 25 January: Residents of Bhatapara in Rajshahi Metropolitan City made a grim discovery on Sunday morning when the body of an unidentified man was found in a drain near the north-west corner of the Central Botanical Garden and Zoo. The local community immediately alerted the authorities, prompting a swift response from the Rajpara Police Station.

Police confirmed that the body, estimated to be that of a man in his fifties, was recovered around 9:30 a.m. The deceased had apparently fallen headfirst into the drain, with his feet protruding upwards. Initial assessments suggest that the incident may have been accidental, possibly occurring while the individual was attempting to relieve himself. No visible signs of external injury or trauma were observed on the body, according to the police.

Rajpara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Malek stated, “The upper part of the body was submerged in the drain, while the legs were positioned above. At this stage, it appears to be an accidental death, but further investigation is required to confirm the exact circumstances.”

The identity of the deceased remains unknown, and police are actively working to ascertain it through community inquiries and available records. As part of standard legal procedure, the body has been transported to the Rajshahi Medical College morgue for post-mortem examination.
