A special joint forces operation launched nationwide

In anticipation of the upcoming national elections, a comprehensive operation by the joint forces has commenced across the country. Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazal Mohammad Sanaullah announced the initiative during a meeting organised by the Cox’s Bazar district administration on Sunday.

Brigadier General Sanaullah indicated that the Ministry of Home Affairs is expected to issue an official circular by the end of the day, outlining the operational directives. He elaborated on the key points of the forthcoming campaign, emphasising its nationwide scope and strategic coordination.

“All branches of the security forces have already convened at the Election Commission headquarters to finalise operational plans,” he stated. “All headquarters have been duly informed, and joint operations will now proceed across the country.”

According to Brigadier General Sanaullah, the joint forces’ mission will focus on three primary objectives:

Objective Description Implementation Details
1. Confiscation of Illegal Weapons Recover arms that could be misused during the election period Ensure any weapons that cannot be physically recovered are rendered unusable for criminal purposes
2. Arrest of Identified Criminals Apprehend individuals known for past violent or illegal activities Bring suspects under the jurisdiction of law enforcement and judicial process
3. Election Code Compliance Monitor major violations of the electoral code of conduct by parties and candidates Minor infractions will be handled by routine committees; serious breaches will be escalated to joint forces

The Brigadier General also addressed law enforcement measures concerning the Rohingya population in Cox’s Bazar and other affected areas. He instructed authorities to secure all refugee camps and intensify surveillance along both land and sea borders. “It is essential to prevent any criminal elements from exploiting these areas to commit offences,” he warned.

Sanaullah highlighted that these measures are intended not only to secure the electoral process but also to maintain broader law and order across the nation. “The joint forces’ presence will ensure that voters can exercise their democratic rights in a safe and secure environment, free from intimidation or illegal activity,” he added.

With these operations, authorities aim to proactively address potential threats, uphold the law, and guarantee that the election period remains peaceful and orderly. The coordinated effort underscores the government’s commitment to a secure and credible electoral process ahead of the national polls.
