The long-simmering tension between hip-hop heavyweights A$AP Rocky and Drake has reached a boiling point with the release of Rocky’s latest studio album, Don’t Be Dumb. On the standout track “Stole Ya Flow,” the Harlem-born rapper appears to settle scores with the Toronto artist, using pointed lyrics to address the deterioration of their friendship and their shared history with pop icon Rihanna.
Speaking on the New York Times Popcast published on Thursday, 14 January 2026—just hours before the album’s global debut—Rocky addressed the inevitable speculation regarding the track’s subject matter. When questioned about his relationship with the OVO leader, Rocky described a classic trajectory of industry betrayal.
“I started just seeing people who started out as friends and just became foes,” Rocky remarked. “It seemed like they was unhappy for you and started sending shots.”
Despite the aggressive nature of the bars, Rocky downplayed the idea of a formal “beef,” suggesting that while he sees no resolution on the horizon, he simply does not care enough to pursue one. “For what?” he asked rhetorically, dismissing the need for a reconciliation.
The lyrics of “Stole Ya Flow” leave little room for ambiguity, targeting Drake’s musical style, his personal history, and even recent internet rumours regarding his physical appearance.
The Rihanna Connection: The most provocative line in the song sees Rocky taunting, “First you stole my flow, so I stole yo b—h… My baby mama Rihanna, so we unbothered.” This refers to Drake’s long-standing public infatuation with the Fenty mogul, which Rihanna famously confirmed was not a mutual friendship in a 2018 Vogue interview.
“In His Feelings”: Rocky spits, “He just a sensitive n—a, still in his feelings,” a direct nod to Drake’s 2018 chart-topping single “In My Feelings.”
Cosmetic Surgery Allegations: In a likely nod to Metro Boomin’s viral “BBL Drizzy” campaign, Rocky adds, “N—as gettin’ BBLs, lucky we don’t body shame.”
The fallout is a sharp departure from 2013, when the two collaborated on the multi-platinum hit “F—kin’ Problems.” The table below outlines the shift in their professional and personal relationship over the last decade.
| Year | Event | Relationship Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2013 | Release of “F—kin’ Problems” | Close Collaborators |
| 2018 | Rihanna distances herself from Drake | Growing Tension |
| 2020 | A$AP Rocky and Rihanna begin dating | Rivalry Formed |
| 2023 | Drake shades the couple on For All the Dogs | Active Feud |
| 2026 | Rocky releases “Stole Ya Flow” | Open Hostility |
Rocky has previously stated he has “bigger fish to fry” than engaging with “p—y boys” in the studio. However, “Stole Ya Flow” confirms that the rapper was no longer willing to ignore the “shots” he claims have been fired his way for years. By positioning his relationship with Rihanna as the ultimate victory, Rocky has shifted the narrative from musical technicalities to personal dominance.
