Administration Cadre Officers Assigned Across Eight Divisions

In a significant move to bolster local governance and administrative efficiency, the Ministry of Public Administration has officially deployed 244 newly recruited officers from the 44th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS). These officers, belonging to the elite Administration Cadre, have been assigned to the country’s eight administrative divisions as Assistant Commissioners.

Immediate Commencement of Duties

According to a notification issued by the Ministry on Sunday, the newly appointed officers are required to report to their respective Divisional Commissioners by the morning of Monday, 9 February 2026. This deployment follows their formal entry into the civil service as part of a larger cohort of 1,490 candidates who were recruited across various cadres earlier this week.

To empower these officers in their field-level responsibilities, the government has conferred upon them the powers of Executive Magistrates under the Code of Criminal Procedure. This legal authority allows them to oversee mobile courts, maintain public order, and manage local administrative judicial matters.

Distribution and Deployment Strategy

The assignment of these officers to divisional offices is the first step in their field-level orientation. From these divisional headquarters, they will be further posted to various districts and sub-districts (Upazilas) to serve as the frontline of the government’s executive branch.

Strengthening the Civil Service

The 44th BCS recruitment process has been highly anticipated, aimed at addressing vacancies in the civil service and injecting fresh talent into the bureaucracy. The Administration Cadre, often considered the backbone of the state’s executive machinery, plays a vital role in policy implementation and disaster management at the grassroots level.

By conferring magistracy powers immediately, the Ministry of Public Administration ensures that these young officers can assist local administrations in enforcing laws and managing revenue matters effectively from the outset of their careers. The Divisional Commissioners have been instructed to facilitate a smooth transition and provide the necessary induction for the officers to begin their service in the public interest.
