In preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, the Bangladesh Railway has begun selling online train tickets to facilitate smooth travel for passengers returning home. On Saturday, 7 March, travellers were able to purchase tickets for journeys scheduled on 17 March, marking the fifth day of advance ticket sales for the festive period.
According to railway authorities, the sale of advance tickets this year is being conducted entirely online. To ease server congestion and ensure a seamless booking experience, ticket sales have been scheduled at different times based on regions.
Sales for trains departing from western regions commenced at 8:00 AM, while tickets for trains departing from eastern regions will be available from 2:00 PM.
Railway officials highlighted that advance ticket sales for dates prior to 17 March have already taken place as follows:

In addition to outbound journeys, advance tickets for return trips after Eid will be available from 13 March onwards. The schedule for return ticket sales is as follows:

The railway administration urges passengers to book early due to expected high demand and reminds travellers to complete their transactions online, as no counter-based advance bookings will be available this year. Authorities also encouraged flexibility in departure times and routes to avoid last-minute congestion at major stations.
With millions expected to travel during the festival, the Bangladesh Railway has taken measures to increase train services and enhance operational efficiency, aiming to ensure a safe and convenient journey for all passengers during the festive rush.
