Al Nasr beat Al Shabab 3-2

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr had endured a disappointing start to 2026, failing to register a single win in their first three matches. However, the club finally broke their winless streak in their fourth match of the year, edging past Al Shabab 3-2 at Al Awal Park on Saturday evening. Despite both teams scoring own goals during the encounter, it was Al Nassr who ultimately celebrated victory.

The game began in thrilling fashion. Just two minutes in, Al Nassr took the lead when Al Shabab defender Sadd Yaslam inadvertently diverted Joao Felix’s low cross into his own net. The early advantage sparked jubilant celebrations among the home supporters.

Six minutes later, Kingsley Coman doubled the lead with a spectacular overhead kick, following another precise cross from Felix. At 2-0, it appeared that a comfortable victory was on the cards for the hosts.

Al Shabab, however, refused to capitulate. In the 31st minute, Hammam Al Hammami delivered a threatening cross from the right, and Al Nassr defender Mohamed Simakan misjudged the ball, sending it into his own net to reduce the deficit.

The second half saw Al Shabab grow increasingly attacking. Yannick Carrasco orchestrated play from midfield, providing a decisive through pass to Carlos Junior, who calmly slotted home to level the match at 2-2. With the game finely poised, Al Shabab appeared on course for a potential comeback.

Their hopes were dashed in the 70th minute when Vincent Siero received a second yellow card for a late tackle on Coman, reducing Al Shabab to ten men. Al Nassr capitalised on the numerical advantage, piling pressure on the opposition defence.

The decisive moment arrived in the 76th minute. A shot from Wesley was blocked in the box, but the rebound fell perfectly to Abdulrahman Gharib, whose shot deflected off an Al Shabab defender into the net, sealing the victory for Ronaldo’s side.

Al Nassr’s Current League Standings:

Team Played Wins Draws Losses Points Position
Al Hilal 15 12 2 1 38 1
Al Nassr 15 10 4 1 34 2
Al Shabab 15 3 2 10 11 15

With this win, Al Nassr moves up to second place, just four points behind league leaders Al Hilal, who have a game in hand. Al Shabab, meanwhile, remain in 15th place with 11 points. Ronaldo’s side will be looking to build on this momentum as they continue their campaign in the 2026 season.
