An Argentine police officer has been found guilty of abuse of authority after allowing four detainees to temporarily leave their holding cells in order to work as cooks, servers, and cleaners at his own wedding.
The unusual incident took place last year, when the officer arranged for the detainees—held at a nearby police station—to walk freely to and from a wedding venue just one block away, as reported by local media.
Roles Assigned to Detainees
| Detainee Task | Details |
| Cook | One man was in charge of roasting lamb |
| Server & Cleaner | Others served food and cleaned the venue |
| Return to Custody | All four returned to the cell post-event |
Though it remains unclear what offences the detainees were charged with—or whether any had been convicted—none attempted to escape during the celebration.

The officer’s actions were described as a clear misuse of public power, and on Monday, a court sentenced him to a 15-month suspended prison term for abuse of authority.
According to El Diario de La Pampa, the wedding unfolded without incident, but the revelations drew public outrage and legal scrutiny, culminating in the officer’s conviction.
