In Taraganj, Rangpur, robbers tied up the night guard and employees at an ice factory at gunpoint and looted valuables. The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 22, around 2:00 AM at NN Ice Factory in the Ikarchali area of the upazila. The robbers broke open a chest and stole nearly 1.25 million taka along with other items.
The factory authorities reported that a group of robbers entered the factory at 2:00 AM, tied up night guard Sohel Rana, machine operator Manjurul Islam, and Sujon Babu at gunpoint. They then entered the office, broke open a chest, and took 12,54,920 taka, a 42-inch color television, and the hard disk of the CCTV camera.
Machine operator Manjurul Islam said, “As soon as the robbers entered the factory, they tied the three of us at gunpoint. They took two of us to the office and brought Sujon from the machine room after fetching a spade. Then they broke open the chest and took the money, TV, and CCTV machine. Their faces were covered with monkey caps.”
Factory manager Shariful Islam stated that he received a phone call about the robbery at 2:30 AM and immediately informed the police. The OC (Officer-in-Charge) visited the scene.
Taraganj Police Station OC M.A. Faruk said that necessary action will be taken upon receiving a formal complaint.
