Arms and Drugs Seized in Joint Operation; Actor Montu’s Son Among Four Arrested

A joint task force conducted a raid at the residence of theater actor A R Montu in Ashulia, Savar, Dhaka. During the operation, foreign pistols, a large number of cartridges, bullets, yaba tablets, and marijuana were seized. Four individuals, including Montu’s son, were arrested in connection with the incident.

The raid took place on Thursday (October 31) late at night in the Gazi Chater Mati Mosque area of Ashulia.

Those arrested are Montu’s younger son Mehedi Hasan Mithun, also known as Mithun Bin Montu (Musa), Mozammel Bhuiya (44), Zahidul Alam (24), and Masuma Akter Ria (22).

According to a press release from the joint task force, several rounds of blank gunshots at night created panic among local residents. Acting on the information from the locals, the task force raided actor A R Montu’s residence. During the operation, one foreign pistol, two magazines, 33 rounds of shotgun ammunition, pistol cartridges, indigenous firearms, nearly 3,500 yaba tablets, marijuana, and locally produced alcohol were seized.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation late Thursday night, three youths were arrested in the Kamrail area of Ashulia along with a foreign pistol.

The press release also stated that separate cases under arms and narcotics laws are being prepared at Ashulia Police Station against the seven arrested individuals.
