Arrest Warrant Issued Against Sajeeb Wazed Joy

The International Crimes Tribunal has accepted charges against Sajeeb Wazed Joy and the Awami League government’s State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, over allegations of genocide committed during the July mass uprising by shutting down the internet. At the same time, the tribunal issued an arrest warrant against Joy.

The order was passed on Thursday afternoon (4 November). The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for 10 December.

The tribunal accepted the allegations that Joy and the State Minister had been involved in shutting down internet services during the July uprising, which reportedly led to acts described as genocide. Following this, an arrest warrant was issued against Joy.

The International Crimes Tribunal delivered the order on Thursday afternoon (4 November). The matter will come up for the next hearing on 10 December.
