Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard has reflected on his team’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea, a match that saw the visitors reduced to ten players in the 38th minute. Despite this advantage, Arsenal were unable to capitalise and had to settle for a single point.
“It was a tough and competitive game,” Ødegaard said. “Both sides played aggressively from the start, and there were a lot of challenges on the pitch. Of course, when the opposition is down to ten men, we should have taken control and secured the win.”
The Norwegian midfielder acknowledged that the team’s performance, while strong in patches, still left room for improvement. “There are elements of our game that need work. We have to accept the draw and focus on the next fixture,” he added.
Arsenal currently lead the Premier League with 30 points, sitting five points clear of Manchester City and six ahead of Chelsea. Ødegaard highlighted the importance of maintaining focus and pushing for victories in the remaining matches. “We must keep striving to win and continue developing as a team. Every game counts at this stage of the season,” he explained.
While the result was perhaps disappointing given the circumstances, Ødegaard remains optimistic. The Gunners will look to build on their solid start to the season, sharpen their finishing, and sustain their position at the top of English football’s most competitive division.
