Arson on Parked Bus in Keraniganj Causes Financial Loss

In South Keraniganj, Dhaka, miscreants set fire to a Balaka Transport bus parked by the roadside. The incident occurred in Rajendrapur area of Tegharia Union in the early hours of Sunday (16 November).

Locals reported the fire to the fire service, who later controlled the blaze. The fire damaged the bus’s seats, glass, and a large portion of its interior. No one was injured, but significant financial loss occurred.

The bus driver Babul said he parked the bus at Rajendrapur stand at night and went home. His assistant, Shawon, was sleeping in the front section. Awakened by the fire, Shawon broke a window and jumped out, sustaining cuts on his hands and legs.

Bus owner Humayun Kabir stated that he had recently purchased the bus. Arriving at the scene early morning, he found the vehicle completely burnt. He demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice swiftly.

South Keraniganj police officer-in-charge (OC) Akhtar Hossain said that the bus caught fire while parked by the roadside. Investigations are underway to determine who was involved and how the fire was set.
