Declaration Against Advisor
At noon, Ishraq’s supporters declared Local Government Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan ‘unwelcome’ at the DSCC Nagar Bhaban, accusing him of obstructing the process of Ishraq’s formal appointment.

Warnings Issued
Protesters warned that both Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan and his secretary, Rezaul Maksud Zahedi, would be resisted wherever they are found, reflecting the growing frustration over the stalled swearing-in process.

Continued Protests
The supporters further announced that their protest would continue on Sunday, emphasising their determination to keep the pressure on until their demands are met.

Protest Chants

During the third day of protests, the air around the Nagar Bhaban resonated with powerful slogans, including:

“No more excuses, take the oath now!”

“Ishraq Hossain must be sworn in immediately!”

Legal Context

Core Grievances of the Protesters

Despite the court ruling on 27th March, which overturned the election result and declared Ishraq Hossain as the rightful DSCC mayor, the Local Government Ministry has yet to arrange his swearing-in.

The Election Commission published the required gazette on 27th April, but the handover of responsibilities remains stalled.

Demands for Resignation

Protesters are now demanding the immediate resignation of Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, insisting he relocate to the Secretariat for his official duties, rather than occupying the DSCC premises.

“The Nagar Bhaban should be occupied by the mayor, not an unwanted advisor,” one protester stated, reflecting the deepening resentment.
