Athletics and Basketball Champions Honoured at Rajshahi University

Rajshahi University (RU) today hosted a vibrant prize-giving ceremony at its senate building to celebrate the achievements of its student-athletes who excelled in recent national and inter-university competitions.

The event recognised outstanding performances in national taekwondo, inter-university basketball, and cricket tournaments.

Prize Highlights

The RU administration presented blazers and trophies to managers, coaches, and players for their commendable efforts. A total of 62 students were honoured with blazers for their participation in various sporting events.

The ceremony was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof Saleh Hassan Naquib. He was joined by:

Vice-Chancellor’s Remarks

Prof Naquib emphasised the cultural and civilisational importance of sports, noting that athletics are an essential part of a nation’s heritage.

“Sports reflect a nation’s civilisation, including that of Bangladesh. It’s crucial to preserve this tradition and uphold its dignity,” he said.

He also issued a stern reminder that any form of chaos or misconduct on the sports field would no longer be tolerated, referencing past incidents of unrest during sporting events.

The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the university’s commitment to nurturing sportsmanship and excellence in athletics.
