Some miscreants attempted to sabotage the railway line in Satkania by felling trees early this morning. The incident occurred in the Dhmesha Union area, one kilometre south of the Satkania Railway Station on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar railway track. Railway security personnel were quick to respond after being alerted and cleared the debris from the track.
The incident did not disrupt train services. According to railway authorities, the miscreants placed the fallen trees on the tracks after the Cox’s Bazar Express passed Satkania Station last night. The aim was likely to obstruct the line during a specific time frame. However, the railway security team acted swiftly, removing the trees within 20 minutes of receiving information at around 6:00 AM.
The railway department also confirmed that the Cox’s Bazar Express from Dhaka, scheduled to pass Satkania Station at 5:30 AM, was delayed and did not pass until 7:00 AM. Fortunately, the delay caused no accidents, as the trees had been removed in time.
Assistant Station Master of Satkania, Mong Yu Marma, confirmed that the line was functioning normally again. He added that an investigation into the incident is underway, and higher authorities have been informed.
