Australian Police Foil Organised Crime Hit Near Sydney Daycare

Australian authorities have successfully prevented an alleged organised crime attack near a daycare facility in Sydney, the New South Wales (NSW) Police announced on Wednesday.

The operation occurred on Tuesday in Revesby, a suburb in the city’s southwest, after police received intelligence that a group of men was preparing to carry out a targeted killing.

NSW Police intercepted two vehicles carrying the suspects. During searches, officers recovered:

Item Quantity
Firearms 3 (two initially, one later from linked premises)
Balaclavas Several
Body-worn cameras Found in vehicles
Jerry cans containing fuel Multiple

Footage from the scene captured the two cars riddled with bullet holes, underscoring the severity of the planned attack.

One unnamed witness told Australia’s Channel Nine that he had heard gunfire and went to investigate:

“I started walking out of my house and I heard some more gunshots and then cars were swerving,” he said.

Assistant Commissioner Scott Cook explained that police had been investigating a transnational crime network believed to be involved in multiple murder conspiracies for several weeks.

“The victim had criminal links and was targeted due to a breakdown in relationships within the syndicate,” Cook said.
“The men came pretty close to carrying out the hit.”

Authorities believe that the trio did not personally know the victim, but were hired by the syndicate to carry out the attack.

“The fact that this group was prepared to kill an individual in a location where so much collateral damage would have been caused is a significant concern,” Cook added.
“These individuals were being watched, and we moved at the right moment.”

The men have been charged with:

  • Conspiracy to commit murder,
  • Participation in a criminal group, and other related offences.

The suspects were refused bail and are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Ongoing Investigation

Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine further links within the alleged organised crime network and to prevent any additional planned attacks.

This swift intervention highlights NSW Police’s commitment to public safety, particularly in areas frequented by vulnerable members of the community, including children.
