Bangladesh have won all three of their most recent matches against Afghanistan overseas, including one in the Asia Cup and the next two in the ongoing T20I series. Today, 5 October, the two teams will face each other in the third and final T20I, with the Tigers seeking a whitewash. Having already secured the series with two consecutive victories, Zaker Ali’s side enter the match with confidence.
On one hand, Bangladesh will be aiming for another win, while Afghanistan will be seeking a consolation victory. Since the series is already decided, Bangladesh may consider rotating the playing XI. Sheikh Mahedi Hasan, who did not feature in the first two matches, could be included, potentially replacing Rishad Hossain.
In the pace department, Mustafizur Rahman may sit out in favour of Tanzim Hasan Sakib. Meanwhile, the opening batting pair of Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Parvez Hossain Emon, which clicked brilliantly in the first match but struggled in the second, could retain their positions for the third T20I.
The middle order appears almost certain:
Sohan has emerged as the team’s key finisher, rescuing Bangladesh in critical moments during the opening two matches.
In the spin unit, Nasum Ahmed may partner with Mahedi Hasan, supported by three pacers: Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shariful Islam, and Mohammad Saifuddin.
The third T20I between Afghanistan and Bangladesh will begin at 8:30 PM BST at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
