Bangladesh Army Opens Nursing Commission Intake

The Bangladesh Army has announced a significant career opportunity for professionally trained and dedicated nurses, inviting applications for the 43rd Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) under the Armed Forces Nursing Service (AFNS). This latest recruitment drive reflects the military’s continued commitment to strengthening its healthcare system and ensuring high-quality medical services for serving personnel and their families.

The intake is exclusively open to female candidates and is regarded as a prestigious pathway into a disciplined, stable, and nationally respected profession. Although the official notification does not specify the exact number of vacancies, the opportunity is considered substantial, given the expanding scope of military medical services across cantonments and operational areas.

Applicants must demonstrate strong academic credentials. A minimum Grade Point Average of 3.50 is required in both the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations. In addition, candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from a government-recognised nursing college and must have successfully completed the mandatory internship programme. Beyond academic excellence, candidates are expected to possess professional competence, ethical integrity, and the ability to adapt to the structured and demanding environment of military service.

Physical fitness is a core requirement for the role. The minimum height has been set at 1.55 metres (approximately 5 feet 1 inch), with a minimum weight of 46 kilograms. In terms of age eligibility, candidates must be under 26 years of age as of 31 July 2026. These standards are designed to ensure that selected nurses can meet the physical and operational demands of service within the armed forces.

Successful candidates will be commissioned under the prevailing pay scale of the Bangladesh Armed Forces and will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package. This includes furnished accommodation or housing allowances, free medical care, various service allowances, and access to advanced professional training and career development opportunities, both at home and abroad.

However, certain conditions will render a candidate ineligible. Applicants who have previously been dismissed, removed, or whose resignation was accepted from the Army, Navy, Air Force, or any government service or training institution will not be considered. Similarly, individuals convicted of criminal offences, holding dual citizenship, or possessing permanent residency rights in any country other than Bangladesh are barred from applying.

The application process is entirely online, with an application fee of BDT 1,000 payable through designated electronic payment channels. The deadline for submitting applications is 7 March 2026. The written examination is scheduled for 13 March 2026 at 9:00 a.m. at Shaheed Bir Bikram Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College in Dhaka. Candidates who pass the written test will be invited for viva voce examinations, to be held between 6 and 30 April 2026 at the Directorate General of Medical Services (DGMS) office, Dhaka Cantonment.
