Bangladesh-Ireland Series Schedule Announced, Milestone Awaits Mushfiqur Rahim

Ireland were initially scheduled to tour Bangladesh for a solitary Test followed by an ODI series. However, the plan has now been revised, and in November the visitors will contest a two-match Test series. If everything goes according to schedule, the second Test will mark Mushfiqur Rahim’s 100th Test appearance, making him the first Bangladeshi cricketer to achieve this prestigious milestone.

The Bangladesh-Ireland series is set to begin on 11 November in Dhaka.

Series Schedule

19 November Sylhet International Stadium 2nd Test

Originally, Ireland had requested to replace the second Test with an ODI series, but eventually they agreed to play both Tests. After the red-ball clashes, a three-match T20I series will follow.

Mushfiqur Rahim’s Test Career Highlights

  • Test Debut: 2005 at Lord’s, London, against England, aged just 18.
    • He became the second-youngest Test cricketer at Lord’s after Sachin Tendulkar.
  • Matches Played: 98 Tests to date.
  • Total Runs: 6,328 at an average of 38.12.
  • Centuries: 12
  • Half-Centuries: 27
  • Double Centuries: 3
  • Highest Score: 219* against Zimbabwe in 2020 — the highest individual innings by a Bangladeshi in Test cricket.

Mushfiqur already holds the record for playing the most Test matches for Bangladesh, and now he stands on the brink of becoming the country’s first centurion in terms of Test appearances.

Before facing Ireland, Bangladesh will host the West Indies in October:

Date Range Matches
18 October – 1 November 3 ODIs & 3 T20 Internationals

Following the Ireland series, Bangladesh will have a gap in international fixtures during December–January according to the ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP). This period is likely to be occupied by the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

In February 2026, Bangladesh will shift focus to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
