Bangladeshi Expatriate Dies in Tragic Road Accident in Saudi Arabia

A Bangladeshi expatriate, Nurul Alam, has died in a fatal road accident in Saudi Arabia’s Asir Province. The incident occurred on Thursday at around 10 p.m. Bangladesh time in the Mahayel area of the city of Abha. As the crash took place at night, a few passers-by rushed to the scene but found that Nurul Alam had already succumbed to his injuries.

Nurul Alam, aged 35, was a resident of Akbarpara in Adhunagar Union under Lohagara Upazila of Chattogram. He was the son of Sale Ahmad. Relatives and neighbours describe him as a hardworking and cheerful individual, and news of his sudden death has cast a pall of grief over the community. He leaves behind his wife and three children, who were dependent on his earnings.

Abul Kalam, a member of the Adhunagar Union Parishad, confirmed the incident to the press. According to him, Nurul Alam had travelled to Saudi Arabia a decade ago in search of better livelihood opportunities. He ran a small toy distribution business and personally delivered toys to various shops using a microbus. On Thursday night, while returning after making deliveries, a lorry rammed into his microbus from behind. The violent impact crushed the vehicle, causing fatal injuries that killed him on the spot.

Family members back in Bangladesh were devastated after receiving the news. They have appealed for the swift repatriation of his body. Several expatriate Bangladeshis in Saudi Arabia are coordinating with the local authorities to complete the necessary formalities.
