Barcelona will begin the new La Liga season tonight at 11:30 PM Bangladesh time, with the defending champions facing Real Mallorca in their opening match. Just ahead of the new season, the Catalan club received positive news: the registrations of Marcus Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, and goalkeeper Joan Garcia, purchased from Espanyol, have been successfully completed.
Barcelona President Joan Laporta confirmed the update. Both Garcia and Rashford are included in the matchday squad list, which means Garcia could make his debut against Mallorca, and coach Hansi Flick may also choose to field Rashford in his first La Liga appearance.
How the Registrations Were Finalised
Players Still Awaiting Registration
Despite completing Rashford and Garcia’s registrations, Barcelona has not yet registered:
| Player | Position | Age |
| Wojciech Szczesny | Goalkeeper | 33 |
| Gerard Martinez | Left-back | 23 |
| Roni Bardgi | Right-winger | 19 |
Barcelona is confident that these remaining players will be registered before the transfer window closes.
Plans for Additional Registrations
Currently, Barcelona has four registered goalkeepers:
The club hopes to sell or loan out Inaki Pena before the transfer window closes. Additionally, defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu and 19-year-old right-back Hector Font are also expected to leave. Once these players exit, Barcelona will register Szczesny, Roni Bardgi, and Gerard Martinez, completing their squad for the season.
This strategic registration process ensures Barcelona can field a competitive squad for the La Liga opener while managing squad size and adhering to registration regulations.
