BCB Elections Today

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections are set to take place today, Monday, 6 October, at a five-star hotel in the capital. Voting will be held from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

According to the schedule, the names of the elected directors will be announced by 6:00 PM. Following this, the election for the posts of President and Vice-President will take place at 7:30 PM. The name of the new BCB President is expected to be revealed by 9:00 PM. Current BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul is widely regarded as the frontrunner in this race.

 

The BCB constitution stipulates that the Board of Directors is elected across three main categories:

  • Category 1: District and division-based councillors (total 71) are voting for 10 director positions. Fifteen councillors have submitted nominations for these posts.
  • Category 2: Club councillors (total 76) are voting for 12 director positions. Sixteen candidates are competing for these posts.
  • Category 3: University and organisation-based councillors (total 45) are voting for a single director. This category is attracting significant interest from cricket fans, with former national cricket personalities Debabrata Pal and Khaled Masud Pilot contesting.
