Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Tabith Awal and two other officials have been nominated as members of two FIFA committees, the governing body of world football. Tabith has been appointed to the Football Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Committee, while Mahfuza Akter Kiran, head of BFF’s Women’s Wing, has been named a member of the FIFA Youth Girls Competition Committee. Both appointments will remain in effect until 2029.
On Wednesday morning, the Nepal Football Federation shared the news on their official Facebook page, confirming the appointments of their officials to FIFA committees. Nepal’s federation president was appointed to the Social Responsibility Committee, while female member Maleku joined the FIFA Youth Girls Competition Committee.
Shortly after Nepal’s announcement, BFF informed local media that their two officials, Tabith Awal and Mahfuza Kiran, had also been appointed to FIFA committees.
This marks the first time that BFF President Tabith Awal has been included in any FIFA committee. Mahfuza Akter Kiran, however, has previously served on FIFA’s Executive Committee and has participated in various standing committees over time.
FIFA and AFC typically request federations to nominate representatives for their various committees. Nominations sent by the federation are then used to form these committees. During the tenure of former BFF president Kazi Salahuddin, nominations for FIFA and AFC committees were often sent without discussion in board meetings. In contrast, these two recent nominations were confirmed directly by FIFA, BFF stated.
BFF Representation in AFC Committees
Both committees have mandates until 2028, but neither official is currently active within BFF, meaning the federation lacks effective representation in these AFC committees.
Official | BFF Role | FIFA Committee | Term | Notes |
Tabith Awal | President | Football Technology, Innovation & Digital Transformation | 2029 | First inclusion in a FIFA committee |
Mahfuza Akter Kiran | Head, Women’s Wing | Youth Girls Competition Committee | 2029 | Former FIFA Executive Committee member |
Kazi Nabil Ahmed | Former Vice-President | AFC Media Committee | 2028 | Not currently active in BFF |
Kazi Salahuddin | Former President | AFC Competition Committee | 2028 | Not currently active in BFF |
These appointments are expected to enhance BFF’s presence in FIFA, particularly in areas of technology, digital innovation, and youth development, strengthening Bangladesh’s influence in global football governance.
