Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui confirmed that these items were confiscated during regular patrols and operations conducted by the BGB. He emphasised that the BGB will continue its efforts to safeguard the national borders from smuggling and other illicit activities.

Arrests Made During the Drives

In addition to the significant seizures, 69 smugglers were arrested during the period under review. These individuals were involved in a range of illegal activities, including the trafficking of narcotics, illegal firearms, and other contraband goods.

The BGB has been commended for its efforts in preventing the infiltration of illegal goods and substances into the country, and its role in maintaining law and order along Bangladesh’s borders.

Border Security: A Constant Challenge

The challenges posed by cross-border smuggling are significant, and the BGB remains vigilant in ensuring that such illegal activities are minimised. The authorities continue to implement stringent measures to curb smuggling, which poses serious risks to both national security and public health.

Through sustained efforts, the 49th Battalion of BGB has made a considerable impact in fighting against smuggling, contributing to a safer and more secure border region.

The authorities have vowed to continue with their operations, and are calling on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity near border areas
