BNP Against Banning Any Political Party: Fakhrul

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has stated that the party is not in favour of banning any political party in the country.

In a recent interview with a news outlet, Fakhrul was asked about the idea of banning the Awami League and Jatiya Party (JaPa). He responded by clarifying BNP’s position.

Fakhrul’s Remarks

Fakhrul said: “We have urged that specific activities of the Awami League be prohibited—those activities which have caused violence, harmed democracy, damaged the country, and negatively affected the economy.”

He further emphasised: “We have never sought to ban any political party. We have made it clear. We are not in favour of banning any political party.
