After the speech of Interim Government’s Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus to the nation, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has called for an emergency meeting of its Standing Committee.
On Thursday (November 13), a member of BNP’s media cell, Shairul Kabir Khan, informed the media about the development.
He stated that the meeting would take place at 7:00 PM, and it would be chaired by the party’s Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman.
Meanwhile, in his speech to the nation earlier that day, Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus announced that the referendum on the July National Charter 2025 would be held on the same day as the upcoming national parliamentary elections.
Dr. Yunus also mentioned that, if the referendum receives a majority ‘Yes’ vote, a 100-seat upper house will be formed in the national parliament based on the proportion of votes received by political parties in the lower house.
Following the speech, BNP has convened the emergency meeting to decide their response and actions regarding the issues raised by the Chief Advisor.
