In Noakhali’s Subarnachar, two political party offices have been fined for violating electoral code of conduct, authorities confirmed on Sunday. The mobile court imposed penalties on offices of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami for unauthorised lighting and the display of colourful posters.
The enforcement action took place in Al-Amin Bazar, Charwapda Union, under the supervision of Subarnachar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Chenmong Rakhain. The magistrate stated that such measures are necessary to ensure a fair and peaceful electoral environment in the constituency.
According to officials, the BNP office and the Jamaat-e-Islami office had installed decorative lighting and affixed posters that did not comply with the Election Commission’s guidelines. Each office was subsequently fined 5,000 taka. The magistrate emphasised that vigilance would continue throughout the election period to maintain decorum and adherence to the electoral code.
During the mobile court proceedings, members of the police, army, and joint security forces were present to maintain law and order and assist the magistrate in enforcing compliance. Authorities noted that mobile courts have been actively monitoring the area to ensure all political parties follow the electoral code.
The following table summarises the fines imposed:
