Salahuddin Ahmed, a standing committee member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has declared that the party has made a formal pledge to implement the July Charter, expressing optimism that the document will be signed in the near future.
Speaking to journalists on Friday, 1 August, following a courtesy visit to Hathazari Madrasa in Chattogram, where he met with Chief Sheikh Ahmed and Director General Mufti Khalil Ahmed Qasemi, Salahuddin made the following remarks:
“The commitment to implement the July Charter has been made. We hope the charter will be signed very soon.”

Consensus Commission Proposals
During the press interaction, Salahuddin also revealed that of the 826 proposals made by the Consensus Commission, the BNP has no objections to all except 51.

Nazrul Islam Khan, another standing committee member of the BNP, also addressed the media, stating:
“We foresee no major obstacles to holding elections by February. We hope the government will soon provide a clear position on the electoral timeline.”

The statements made by the BNP leadership signal a proactive stance toward electoral preparations and national consensus, underlining their support for the vast majority of the Commission’s proposals and their readiness to move forward with the July Charter.
