Ishwardi, Pabna – 11 January: Police recovered the body of Fosiul Alam Anik, a 22-year-old leader of the Bangladesh Chhatra Dal, who was found hanging in a rented room in Deiyar Sahapur village, Sahapur Union, on Sunday evening.
Anik, the son of Mahidul Islam Ranu from the same village, was a student at Dhaka Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology. In addition to his studies, he served as the vice-president of a Chhatra Dal ward under the Khilgaon police station in Dhaka city.
According to police and local sources, Anik had been residing in Dhaka due to his studies but had recently rented a room at the house of Ruhul, a local driver, near his native village. On Sunday evening, neighbours became concerned after receiving no response from his room for an extended period. They alerted Ishwardi Police Station, who arrived promptly at the scene. Breaking the door, officers discovered Anik’s body hanging from the ceiling fan.
Eyewitnesses noted that although Anik was hanging from the fan, his right foot was resting on a bed and his left foot touched the floor. The door of the room was found locked from the inside, adding to the air of mystery surrounding the circumstances of his death. Locals have expressed various questions regarding the positioning of the body and other unusual aspects of the scene.
Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Md. Mominuzzaman, confirmed the recovery of the body. “At this stage, the precise cause of death cannot be confirmed,” he stated. The body has been sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination. The official cause of death will be determined following the report, and any necessary legal action will be taken based on the findings.
