Bogura Train Derailment Halts Dhaka-Northern Services

A major disruption struck Bangladesh’s rail network on Wednesday afternoon as the Nilshagor Express derailed near Tilakpur in Santahar, Bogura, bringing rail services between Dhaka and northern Bangladesh to a standstill.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 pm, when seven carriages of the train, en route from Dhaka to Nilphamari, left the tracks. Fortunately, initial reports indicate that there were no fatalities, although several passengers sustained minor injuries. Railway officials confirmed that all services connecting the capital with northern districts—including Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, and Nilphamari—were suspended until the track could be safely restored.
