The death toll from a fire at a Bosnian nursing home earlier this month has risen to 15, after a hospital confirmed on Friday that two more victims had succumbed to their injuries.
The fire broke out on the evening of November 4 on the seventh floor of the nursing home in the northeastern city of Tuzla, approximately 80 kilometres (50 miles) northeast of Sarajevo.
Most of the residents of the building were elderly individuals, many of whom were sick and bedridden.
As of now, five other people remain hospitalised at the Tuzla University Clinical Centre, with two of them reported to be in serious condition, according to the hospital’s statement.
Eleven people died on the night of the blaze, most of them from smoke inhalation, as revealed by the autopsy results.
Other victims later died in hospital from the injuries sustained in the fire.
The cause of the fire, which resulted in more than 30 people being injured, including police officers and firefighters, remains unknown. Prosecutors are expected to provide further details later on Friday.
