South Indian cinema has witnessed a new milestone with ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’, which continues to dominate the box office even 27 days after its release. According to reports from Indian media, the film has achieved a net earning of ₹140.25 crore in India.

Globally, the worldwide box office collection stands at ₹280.20 crore, establishing it as one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. The supernatural drama, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, was released on 5 September.

 

Since its release, the film has captured audiences far beyond South India, including in the Hindi belt. Critics have praised the blend of Kerala folklore and modern superhero elements, which has resonated strongly with viewers.

Additionally, special appearances by Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas have heightened audience excitement. The film also hints at the “Lokah Cinematic Universe”, further boosting fan interest.

 

Experts believe that the film’s success marks a new era for Malayalam cinema, encouraging future releases to aim for larger-scale launches. With the current momentum, it is expected that the film will soon join the ₹300 crore club.
