At the very beginning of December, the schedule for the 2026 FIFA World Cup was finalised, setting the stage for one of football’s most eagerly anticipated tournaments. Ahead of the World Cup, five-time champions Brazil will face two formidable European sides—France and Croatia—in a pair of high-profile friendly matches. On Friday, 19 December, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed both the dates and venues of these encounters, although kick-off times are yet to be disclosed.
The fixtures are set to take place on American soil in March next year. The first match will see Brazil’s Seleção face France on 26 March at Gillette Stadium in Boston. Five days later, on 31 March, the Seleção will take on Croatia at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. These friendlies represent Brazil’s final preparation matches before the World Cup, providing coach Carlo Ancelotti with a last opportunity to assess his squad and fine-tune strategies ahead of the tournament.
The 2026 World Cup will kick off on 11 June, hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. In preparation for the two friendlies, the Brazilian team will utilise the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando as their training and accommodation base. This is not a new strategy: the venue was also used by Vinicius Jr. and his teammates during last year’s Copa América for practice and residence. According to Brazilian media outlet O Globo, players are expected to join the national team camp at Granja Comary in Teresópolis in the final week of May ahead of the tournament.
Rodrigo Caetano, General Coordinator of the Brazilian National Team, remarked: “These matches will be of the highest quality, as we face two of the world’s top-ranked teams. Having advanced through the qualification rounds, we will now meet opponents who have not only secured World Cup participation but also represent contrasting styles of football. Previously, we have faced Asian and African teams; now we have sought European teams capable of providing Brazil with a genuine challenge.”
These fixtures are anticipated to be crucial for Brazil’s preparations, allowing the Seleção to measure themselves against Europe’s finest and enter the 2026 World Cup fully battle-ready. The matches promise both tactical rigor and spectacular football, offering fans a glimpse of the team’s form and cohesion before the global tournament begins.
