The New Year has begun with a momentous announcement for the global music industry: BTS have officially confirmed their long-awaited return. On 1 January 2026, BigHit Music posted a succinct but electrifying message on its Korean-language X (formerly Twitter) account—later translated into English—stating, “March 20th comeback confirmed.” With those four words, the world’s most influential K-pop group set the countdown ticking for one of the most anticipated reunions in modern pop history.
The comeback will mark the end of a near four-year hiatus and the conclusion of mandatory military service for all seven members—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook. For ARMY, the band’s fiercely loyal global fanbase, the announcement is the culmination of years of patience, speculation and quiet hope. BTS’s return is not merely another album cycle; it is the reassembly of a cultural force that reshaped pop music’s global map.
Hints of new material have been steadily surfacing for months. In November, RM fuelled excitement with a Weverse update, reassuring fans that progress was well underway. “The music is coming out really well!! Everyone’s trying. Please look forward to it,” he wrote. Jungkook added to the sense of anticipation in an interview with Elle Korea, reflecting thoughtfully on the months ahead: “I think this spring will be more important than ever. So I sincerely hope you all have a safe and enjoyable spring.”
Five members—Jungkook, RM, Suga, V and Jimin—were discharged from military service in June 2025, soon reuniting on camera with J-Hope and Jin. Together, they confirmed that a new BTS album and a full-scale world tour were already in development. The group revealed they would head straight back into the studio, determined to channel both their shared history and personal growth into their next chapter.
In a collective statement, BTS said: “We’ll be releasing a new BTS album in the spring of next year. We’re also planning a world tour alongside the new album. We’ll be visiting fans all around the world, so we hope you’re as excited as we are.”
During their time apart, each member explored individual musical paths, expanding their artistry and reinforcing BTS’s reputation for creative depth. Yet their collective achievements remain staggering. The Bangtan Boys have secured six No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 and six No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, while earning multiple global honours that underline their unparalleled reach.

As March 2026 approaches, BTS’s comeback promises not just new music, but a defining moment—one that blends reunion, renewal and the unmistakable sound of a group ready to reclaim the global stage.
