“Bus catches fire after collision involving three vehicles, four dead.”

In a tragic accident on Friday afternoon, a three-vehicle collision in Daudkandi, Comilla, resulted in a bus catching fire, claiming the lives of four passengers, including two children. The incident involved a bus, an auto-rickshaw, and a motorcycle.

The Daudkandi Highway Police Station confirmed the fatalities. Officer-in-Charge Iqbal Bahar Majumdar stated that the victims included one woman, one man, and two children. Their identities are yet to be verified.

According to authorities, the collision occurred around 12:45 pm on the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway, near Baniapara in Daudkandi. The impact caused the bus to ignite, quickly engulfing the vehicle in flames.

“The fire spread rapidly throughout the bus, leaving little chance for passengers to escape,” O.C. Majumdar said.

Fire service teams were dispatched immediately and managed to recover the four deceased from the charred remains of the bus. Several others sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The condition of the injured passengers has not yet been disclosed.

Police and rescue teams continue to investigate the cause of the collision, examining whether speed, driver error, or road conditions contributed to the tragedy. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway, which is prone to accidents due to high traffic and narrow stretches in some areas.
