Bus Set on Fire in Dhaka-Chittagong Highway

In Feni’s Mohipal area, a bus parked on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway was set on fire by unidentified individuals. The incident occurred on Wednesday (12 December) at around 10:30 PM, near the rural electricity office by the Mohipal flyover.

Local sources reported that the bus, operated by Roni-Rana Transport on the Feni-Chittagong route, was parked in the Dhaka-bound lane when it was suddenly set alight. Fortunately, there were no passengers on board, so no one was injured.

A local resident, Siddiq Ullah, said: “Drivers usually park their vehicles here in the evening and go home. Around 10:30 PM, we heard shouting and rushed out to see the bus on fire. Locals helped extinguish the flames with water.”

Abdul Majid, Senior Station Officer of Feni Fire Service and Civil Defence, told Kaler Kantho that by the time the fire service received the news and reached the scene, locals had already put out the fire. The bus’s front section, including the driver’s seat, was partially damaged. He added that the incident is being treated as a possible act of sabotage.

Mohammad Samsuzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Feni Model Police Station, confirmed that the police promptly arrived at the scene and increased patrols in the area. He said investigations are underway to determine whether this was part of a deliberate attack, and appropriate legal action will be taken.
