Celebrating the Birthday of Nagar Baul James

One of the most influential figures in shaping Bengali band music is Mahfuz Anam James, widely known as Nagar Baul James. Today marks the birthday of this legendary rock star.

James was born in 1964 in Naogaon, though he spent his childhood and adolescence in Chittagong.

Ignoring familial objections, he began his journey in music at a young age, eventually leaving his home to pursue his passion. His professional career started from Aziz Boarding in Chittagong, laying the foundation for his future in the music industry.

In 1980, James formed a band called ‘Feelings’, releasing their first album ‘Station Road’ in 1987.

The following year, with the release of the album ‘Ononnya’, James gained widespread acclaim and popularity, cementing his position as a pioneer of Bengali rock music.

James’ journey from a determined young musician defying familial expectations to a nationally celebrated rock icon continues to inspire music lovers across Bangladesh and beyond.
