Kolkata came alive with the timeless melodies of legendary music composer Bappi Lahiri as his birth anniversary was celebrated through a specially curated musical evening titled Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Organised by The Dreamers in collaboration with renowned vocalist Haimanti Konthe, the event was held at the city’s cultural venue, Wisdom Tree, drawing music lovers from across the city. While Bappi Lahiri is widely remembered as the “Disco King” of Indian cinema, the evening offered a unique glimpse into the softer, more lyrical side of his extensive musical oeuvre.
The highlight of the evening was a soulful performance by Haimanti Roy, who presented a carefully selected repertoire of Lahiri’s classic compositions that continue to resonate with audiences across generations. Her renditions included melodious favourites such as Bolchi Tomay Kane Kane, Aaj Ei Din Take Moner Khatay Likhe Rakho, Mangal Dweep Jwele, Prem Kise Hoy Ta, Mana Ho Tum, Yeh Naina Yeh Kajal, and Pyaar Manga Hai Tumse, among others.
