Police have arrested Jesmin Ara Ruma (27), vice president of the banned organization Central Chhatra League, in Mymensingh. She was detained late Monday night at around 12:30 am from her residence in the Malgudam area of the city based on a confidential tip-off.
Ruma is a resident of Malgudam and the daughter of retired railway employee Abu Taher. On Tuesday afternoon, Kotwali Model Police Station OC Md. Shibirul Islam confirmed that Ruma is the vice president of the Central Chhatra League. She faces allegations of armed attacks during past student movements. Following a court order in an anti-terrorism case, she has been sent to jail.
