Two of Dhallywood’s most popular stars, Chanchal Chowdhury and Tasnia Farin, were recently seen together in Kolkata, creating a stir among fans and film enthusiasts on both sides of the border. The duo attended a special screening of the Tollywood film Swarthopor at the invitation of actress Koel Mallick.
At present, Chanchal is busy shooting for Shikor, directed by Bratya Basu, while Farin is preparing for her upcoming project. The actress made her Tollywood debut with Atanu Ghosh’s Aaro Ek Prithibi. Their coincidental presence in Kolkata, however, has sparked widespread speculation about a possible collaboration.
In a recent interview with a Bangladeshi media outlet, Chanchal responded with a smile when asked about the matter. “It was purely coincidental,” he said. “I didn’t know Farin was here, and she didn’t know I had come. I was here for a meeting with Tonida (director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury), and so was she. We met unexpectedly—it was quite a funny coincidence.”
Earlier, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury had collaborated with Jaya Ahsan for his acclaimed film Dear Maa. Known for his sensitive portrayals of human relationships, the director has earned high praise for his storytelling. Naturally, if Chanchal and Farin were to appear together in his next film, it would be a delightful surprise for audiences across both Bangladesh and India.
When asked about the rumors, both Chanchal and Farin replied with laughter, saying, “Nothing has been finalized yet. But discussions are ongoing. Hopefully, we’ll work together soon.”
Chanchal added with a grin, “We had brunch with Tonida today. We all wake up late, so breakfast and lunch turned into one meal! We chatted about various things. He invited us here, and Koel also extended her invitation. Now we’re just waiting to watch Swarthopor.”
Meanwhile, Tollywood insiders are abuzz with speculation that Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s next film might bring these two celebrated Bangladeshi actors together on screen. Though neither has confirmed anything officially, many believe their recent meeting in Kolkata was no mere coincidence.
